Standards - Mice

NSWFRMC Official Mouse Standard


Summary of general confirmation


Mouse should be of good size;

Body should be long and slim and racy in appearance.

Animals should not be too fat or too thin and coat should be smooth and glossy over the entire body (except Rex).

Head should be wide and long, but not excessive in width or length, and distance between eyes and ears should be proportionate.

Muzzle should show a slight downward curve when viewed from the side.

Whiskers should be long and straight, (except Rex).

Eyes should be large, round, clean and full of life.

Ears should be of good size, round, well formed, and widely spaced.

Tail should be cylindrical, as long as the body or longer, thick at the base, tapering to a fine point, (except Manx).

All mice should be tractable and easy to handle.


The NSWFRMC currently recognises the following;

Varieties: Standard, Long Hair, Long Hair Rex, Rex, Hairless and Manx. These Varieties are separated into the following six (6);
Sections: Self, Tan and Fox, Marked, Ticked, Shaded, and Silvered, except for Hairless.


Faults

Stained or dirty coat, too fat or too thin, nicked ear, scaly skin, kinked or short tail, or lack of whiskers, (Rex and Hairless Varieties are not to be Faulted for lack of whiskers.)


Eliminations

Pregnant or nursing females, respiratory disease, excessive scabs, mites or lice, abscesses, wounds, eye infections, obvious ill health, intractability, biting , tumours, or animals under 6 weeks old.
