Constitution 1.o General - 3.1 Cessation of Membership

PART 1.0: General

The New South Wales Fancy Rat & Mouse Club, (NSWFRMC), is a non-profit organization which was formed primarily to promote responsible ownership of domestic rats and mice.

The main goal of the NSWFRMC is to properly educate people about the care and breeding of domestic rats and mice by distributing quality information and advice as a means of encouraging responsible pet ownership.

The second goal of the NSWFRMC is to promote the rat and mouse fancy as a worthwhile and enjoyable hobby for enthusiasts of all ages.

PART 2.0: Definitions

Member, means a financial member of the Club who is not an officer-bearer of the Club and all in the same household.

Committee means elected office-bearer of the Club.

Club means the New South Wales Fancy Rat and Mouse Club. (NSWFRMC)

NSWFRMC means New South Wales Fancy Rat and Mouse Club.

PART 3.0: Membership

a) A person is qualified to be a Member of the Club if the person has not previously had their membership revoked by the Club.

b) Membership is extended to all members of the same household, qualifying as only one membership in terms of voting. Additional Memberships, to other family or household members, are available after receipt of the appropriate Membership Application Form and Prescribed Fee.

c) A person may nominate themselves for membership of the Club by lodging the appropriate Membership Form together with the Membership Fee with the Secretary.

d) If the Committee determines to approve a nomination for a Membership, the Secretary must as soon as practicable, forward a Membership Number to the Nominee, along with a true copy of the Constitution, Breed Standard and Guidelines of the Club.

e) The Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any application for membership or renewal. Such acceptance shall not be unreasonably withheld.

f) Members of other Rat and/or Mouse clubs may become a Member of the NSWFRMC subject to normal application criteria. They however, will not be able to hold a Committee position in the NSWFRMC whilst a Member of another Club.

g) Persons convicted of any offence under the Cruelty to Animals Act 1950/51, or any Amendment thereof will not be offered Membership to the NSWFRMC.

h) Members who have been convicted of an offence under the Cruelty to Animals Act 1950/51, or any Amendment thereof will be immediately expelled from the Club.

PART 3.1 Cessation of Membership

A person ceases to be a Member of the Club if that person:

i. dies; or

ii. resigns Membership at any time; or

iii. is expelled from the Club; or

iv. does not agree to comply with the Club's Rules within seven (7) days of receipt of the Rules. (In the case of new Members a full refund will be returned to that person); or

v. does not pay annual Membership Fees within thirty (30) days of due date.

vi. is found to have fraudulently accepted a Committee position with NSWFRMC whilst a Member of another Rat and/or Mouse Club.

vii. is convicted of an offence under the Cruelty to Animals Act 1950/51, or any Amendment thereof.
